Winnipeg Afro Aboriginal Cross Cultural Association (WAACA) and the Winnipeg
Alliance Soccer Club presents 2010 Central Soccer Fest to celebrate the renewal
of Central Park. These exhibition match’s will reach out to local residents of
inner city Winnipeg to take advantage of the recent excitement of the World Cup
in South Africa. This event is intended to be a fun and informal way for all to
enjoy the success of the new soccer pitch.
Winnipeg- The first annual Central Soccer Fest event is to take place on
Sunday, Aug 8th from 12:00 pm to 5:00 p.m. This event is co-sponsored by the
Winnipeg Afro-Aboriginal Cross-cultural Association, Winnipeg Alliance Soccer
Club and Central Neighbourhoods Development Corporation. Some of the other
partners involved in putting the event together are the Manitoba Soccer
Association, Winnipeg Aboriginal Council and the Winnipeg Police Service. This
will be the first major event for the brand new soccer pitch and we encourage
everyone to come out and enjoy the game.
This is going to be an event for all members of the community. There will be
barbeque hotdogs served for a low cost from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. The event will
include two matches the first to be an under 17 event which will start at 1:30pm
with the main match featuring Winnipeg Alliance players to take place right
after at 3 pm. There will be entertainment provided from both the Aboriginal and
the African communities. This event will be an opportunity to develop positive
relationships within the community and enhance cross-cultural understanding in
the inner city.
